Bike is SV650S K6 - 2006 model - completely standard at this point, but that's going to have to change a little. Having broken both wrists a couple of times, after only half an hour or so of riding, my wrists start to ache.
I've read through the threads about risers from Sun & Banditmania - and, I guess that I want someone to tell me which way to go. I have to be honest and say that the idea of taking a hacksaw to the handlebars fills me with horror - so I will end up getting bike building brother to do the job for me, I'm afraid! Otherwise, it is possible to put a totally different yoke on the bike? Brother has also advised me to lower the back end a bit, to enable me to get both feet flat on the floor. I had to put the bike down after my foot slipped on gravel last year and I know that my confidence has taken a bit of a knock as a result. In some ways I wonder if I would have been better with a bike with a more touring kind of set up - but in my defence, dealers will not let "new passes" try their bikes, so you never know if it will really be the one for you, til you've handed over the cash! I like the bike though - I could just do with some advice to help tweak it a little. Anyone??? Thanks! ![]() |

You can get seats with some foam taken out to lower them. In fact there was one in the for sale section last week I think.
If it needs lowering more than that, longer dogbones will lower the rear suspension. No doubt a short house will be along shortly (ooooops unintentional pun) who knows more about this. |

Thanks for that, Mike - I'll go and have a look for the seat...

Higher bars are an option, there's allsorts out there. I think LSL now do a Match set, which are about an inch higher but also pulled back slightly and as flat as a pancake, which could help, but I imagine you want them higher? They;re not cheap. Sun Risers and Helibars would be in the same vein... Remember the clipons are bolt-on so if you do balls up the fitment with the Sun Risers, it's not the end of the world.
I think you could fit a top yoke off a naked, and that gives you a million options but some will probably foul the fairing, and that's an MOT fail (as well as being a pain in the bum). You could reduce the steering lock with tyre weights though to get round that, but of course it'll cost you maneuverability. At the back, you can definately thin the seat, and if you use a gel insert it'll be no less comfy... Dogbones are good too, but it'll affect the handling- you can also lower the front by sliding the yokes down over the forks a bit, that'll get the seat down still further. We have some incredibly tiny people riding SVs on this site ![]()

have you checked that the levers are forming a straight line with your arms? That can cause extra pain.
