Aprilia RSV 1000 R

Has anyone had a go on a Aprilia RSV 1000 R?

Are they any good, What are they like etc etc.

Just dreaming, but I am eyeing up my next big twin!

Been dreaming my way through bike trader this afternoon, Aprillia Milles and Triumpgh 675s are making me drool. Another year at least though...

I've got a 2003 RSVR. This was the least year that the R meant top of the range for extras, such as Ohlins shocks & forks, gold wheels and other bling bits. For later models it's the Factory version that has those bits.

I have to say that this bike is the mutts nuts! It's the biggest baddest beast that I've ever ridden. It's not for cowards, nor the meek nor the inexperienced. That said it bit me back the day I picked it up but I'm beginning to tame it now. Just over the last 2 or 3 days I've learned even more about it. It has to be ridden aggressively to get the best out of it - it's a lion not a pussy cat. And it helps massively if the suspension is tweaked to fit your sixe and weight.

And boy does it turns heads!

My next door neighbour has recently seen the light and traded in his GSXR600 last week for a twin. He got a gorgeous RSV in Fortuna colours with Akros and all the trick bits. No longer can I say "I'm the only v-twin in the village!"

My brothers got one. a 2001 RSVR, it eats front brake discs and they warp, seems to be a common problem according to what he's read. Also when the bikes stood for a while it ends up with a flat battery, bikes alarmed so thats probably the cause, but he swapped the battery for a one that has a higher amp rating and thats solved his starting woes.

Apart from that he hasnt had any other problems with it.
