As my knees have started to go a bit wonky of late I've been doing more swimming and less running.
I've also increased the intensity of my training in order to be able to drink more beer and eat more crisps/cheese/sausages/biscuits etc without getting fat. I've regularly been swimming 1200m (my pool is 24m and thats 50 lengths) and doing it as fast as I can breast stroke. My best time so far is 32mins 16sec thats is with ABSOLUTLEY NO PUSHING WITH MY LEGS from the side at the start of each length. Anyone beat that ?, it should't be to hard as I'm a fairly spazzy swimmer. My goal is to get it sub 30 minutes. ![]() |

Likewise with the knee, don't even know if I can swim still, haven't tried, I'm still on trying to master the walking bit at the moment

Boy had 2 years of hydrotherapy when he was little due to having perthes diesese which affects the hip joint. Excersice in water in good for you because it takes effort but the joint is supported in the water. H |

![]() But seriously I think I'm achieving more on the multi-gym and being out and about, I've used very few pain killers and no sleeping pills in the last couple of weeks as I've just crashed out when going to bed, which is always good. But thanks anyway.

Luckily one of my neighbours is a physio.
Had a chat with her about my knee and it doesn't appear to be to serious. She's shown me some exercises to help it. |

I shall never moan about any injury or discomfort on here ever again (unless I have bits hanging off). Good luck with your continuing recovery, I have the upmost admiration for your courage and determination. |

64 lengths of a 25m pool is more or less 1 mile.
I occasionally go for a swim during my lunch hours - 32 lengths (1/2 mile) of breaststroke takes me 16 minutes (with pushing off ![]()

Hey, just getting by here, I didn't write that thread to benchmark injuries, just perhaps to show it's OK or even normal to have to bounce back from a long way down and it can happen to anyone, the thread would have been a lot shorter if I'd turned my toes up ![]() Cheers Mark.
