Stickers....Mmmmm

Right, due to my love of stickers, I am starting up a 'small' business, mainly for fun and friends with a vinyl cutter, I should be up and running in a week or so.

So I just thought I would see what interest I would get from here.

All shapes, sizes colours made to order, graphics, numbers, lettering etc.

I dont have any personal experience, but my sister was thinking of setting up a t-shirt printing business, basically making transfers up on an inkjet printer and ironing them on - figured it was something she could do while at home looking after the kids.

Decided not to do it after she heard a few stories.

You see, you can go out and buy a Mickey Mouse t-shirt transfer kit and use it to make your kids dome t-shirts. If however you make them to sell then the Mouse sends the boys round for copyright and use of a trademark infringement.

So you are stuck with dodging corporate guys who have bigger lawyers than you.

The only way you can get close to using copyrighted material is if its a parody - such as the t-shirts that copy the style of the Coke logo but have different lettering.

But there ARE plenty of cool things you CAN do - especially if you are doing vinyl stickers for bikes etc, just avoid anything that looks like anything that anyone else has done

BTW I am NOT a lawyer so this mainly just an opinion based on anecdotal evidence, but hey, where would the internet be if people only posted cold, hard, facts
