Default Mixing chain wear

I am fitting a new engine and the sproket on the engine is in better condition than my old sproket, basically if i dont change it will it wear the chain quicker than the older front sproket?

Yes, probably. But when was it ever that simple? Often the front sprocket wears out first so chain life might not actually make that much difference. My chain's going strong while my front sprocket's starting to look a bit worn, so I'm going to sling on one of my assorted half-used front sprockets to get the last from the chain. No reason not to really...
