Default Tread Direction

The tread pattern on my Metzler Z6's appear to go in opposite directions. Is this correct??

The rear appears to rotate so that water would be pushed outwards away from the tyre but the front appears to run in the opposite direction so that water would be pushed into the centre of the tyre!

Anyone got Z6's that are fitted the same/differently?

Regards

Can't honestly remember, but the manufacturer helps you out with a big arrow for rotational direction, I've had several sets of these and they work well as a pair in the wet (or mixed with the strada's).

(Slightly)

Interesting fact, haven't seen it in a while mind, but you used to get tyres that fitted one way round for the front, and the same tyre could be fitted the other way round to the rear, now that was confusing

Cheers Mark.

I think there was a thread on this a little while ago with moulds being incorrectly labelled...or was that Continental?

Looking from the back of the bike (and back of each wheel):

The rear has a strip down the middle with no grooves in it. The main grooves run down & out in a curve. There's a smaller groove that runs up as well.

The front, has a zigzag line running down the middle. Theres smaller grooves that run upwards & out as well.

Perhaps a few people could post pictures for comparison?

Yea, i thought this too when my tyres where being fitted, but on the sidewall there is an arrow indicating the direction of rotation, which I have done correctly (i.e. the tyres rotate the correct way).

Z6's have been out long enough for a mistake with the rotational direction to have been corrected. Avons have a similar pattern that looks wrong at the front.

What about when you're pushing the bike backwards? Do the arrows point in the right direction then?
