Default anyone knows a good book about Visual basic?

I was just wondering if any of you IT wizz kids know a book about VB? I can handle myself and can write simple codes but recently I spoke to a guy who said that my codes are complicated and make no real sense to a programmer. As I am self-taught I think he may be right even so whatever and whenever I did write a piece of code it worked fine. So can you point me in the right direction? Book, web site or anything useful.

I would much rather point you at a programming language.

VB Sux donkey balls - FACT!

Get yourself over to C, C++, Java or Perl - even PHP is better than VB.

It's probably not a book on VB you need, but rather something about code design, code structure, use of data structures etc.

Not done any formal coding for donkey's, bug fixing is my life.... so cannot help on resources.

One of the real code monkeys will be along to put me back in my box soon.

If you must play with MS development tools. use C#.

Personally I would recommend you learn Java or C/C++ etc. But if you need to be a pc/widoze type c# and .net is better than the vb stuff

I have "an introduction to programming using Visual Basic 6.0 4th Ed" by David I Schneider.

I have other various books from my time in uni, that I will prob never ever use.*

*Cos I hate programming!!!

Hmm, I'll go look and be back in a bit.

Found it, it's a bit battered and I don't know where the VB CD is. bloody huge, full of simple examples and exercises, don't think it'll be much help!! I'm never going to use it though.

Well, the trouble is that I use VB most as I work predominantly with Excel and Access and it is easier to open the VB window and write my code in it if I need to create a macro. As you surely know the macro recorder is cr4p and totaly useless. So C+ or so wouldn't be much use for me would it? But I can easily be wrong.
