A little story for you.
My brother is a paramedic (well, sort of, he moved around a bit within the NHS - qualified as a paramedic then built on it). He's been getting hassle from one of his bosses, and after talking to the union, put in a dispute for an attempt at constructive dismiss by his boss. Around a week ago, my brother submitted some paperwork, which had a slight error on it. I'm not sure what that paperwork was, but he also turned around with a "Hey, by the way, give us that back, I made a bodge of it, I'll amend it properly." He noticed the error before anyone else did. His bosses reaction was to discipline him, and put him on "supervision" (meaning that he's not allowed to work by himself for the forseeable future). Now, bare in mind that my brother has had training up to managerial level, and has worked at that level. He decided to step down for personal reasons. After talking to the union, he'd decided that enough was enough, and him & his wife have just had a baby, so he figured that she wasn't really worth all the stress & effort. So he handed his notice in. He's required to work a month's notice. He then went to his GP, explained the situation, and walked away with a sicknote for 4 weeks due to stress. He's now at home with his new baby, getting paid. He's also lined up some temping work for when his sicknote (and notice of termination) runs out, so he's not going to be out of pocket either. Not a recommendation, just a story ![]() |
