Default What Gixer fairing

The SV K3 trackbike has been designated a bit more cash than expected this month, so now a replacement radiator has been purchased it's time to start looking for a race/track fairing.

I can lay my hands on a fairing bracket from an SV1000S (same part number as a 650S) cos I want to keep the original clock pod, so I'm looking for something that will pretty much bolt straight up to that. I see a lot of Minitwins bikes wearing Gixer fairings, but what model of Gixer fairing fits up easiest with the minimum amount of bodgery to the bracket - K3/4/5/6 600/750 or 1000?

Also, does anyone make a pointy SV single seat unit to take the stock rider's seat pad, and specifically to fit to a K3 subframe (I understand they are different to later models, being higher)? I can't see any on eBay or elsewhere when I google.

Thanks

The GSXR1000K5 fairing fits almost straight upto the stock clock bracket. All it needs is two rubber cushions to sit behind the "ears" where they bolt to the clock bracket. You need to trim the back bottom part of the fairing where the exhaust comes out..but thats straight forward to do.

Seat wise a GSXR1000K3 seat will fit the stock subframe without any cutting and with a stock seat. The K5 seat will also fit but needs cutting.quite a bit!!

Thanks Sarah, have to admit the fairing on your race bike looks like it belongs there, not a lash up. I do prefer the look of the Thou K5 fairing too.

I take it you mean a stock Thou K3 seat, rather than the SV seat?

My concern was using my K3 subframe because I understand that one year's model (2003) has a higher seat height, which might make things awkward. I read somewhere that Suzuki lowered the seat height on the SV K4 model onwards by changing the subframe etc, and that the plastics are different to the SV K3 as well. Have I been misinformed?

Thanks. The 1000K5 fairing really suits the SV..and makes you realise how small the GSXR actually is!!

Rear end wise - As you have a K3 subframe stick with that. Yes the K4 is lower subframe wise..not ideal on a race bike.

The GSXR1000K3 fibreglass seat unit (bodywork)fits onto the SV subframe very well. Use the stock SV650 riders seat. (sorry if i confused you!).

I understand the K3 plastics are the same as the later years. Its doesnt matter though for a racebike.

Fantastic - Many thanks, I'll start looking for decent fibreglass now.

You cant go wrong with Raceproducts.co.uk for fairings or if you can afford a bit more then QB carbon do some very well made fibreglass stuff that is sooo light.
