Default Wet, Cold, Happy

Wow! What a weekend. I rode back to brighton yesterday, went home for my birthday party. Saturday morning was nice and dry, but chilly - but not cold enough to enjoy myself down the A24 and along the A272. These new tyres are great, and the bike felt brilliant despit a full topbox and maria on the back.

Switch to this morning; I was never gonna make it home last night (i didnt drink but i was very tired) so me and maria slept and got up at 6:30 this morning to come home before the rain. Well, that didnt work! Left my house at about 8am, and as soon as we got onto the A23 it started to bucket down. Thats ok for maria, she was wearing my dads dry suit (and looking like a stealthy michelin man!) but I got SOAKED!!! I couldnt stay on the motorway, too much spray from the traffic, so I pulled off onto the A272 and too the scenic route.

There was alot of standing water, alot of puddles. But my SV was perfect today. I only had one "moment", if it can be called that, when I went over a manhole cover mid corner and got a small twitch. The MEZ6's where perfect in the heavy rain, I had plenty of confidence, feedback and grip. The SV, although softly sprung in the dry, was wonderfull aswell providing all the information I needed to know how hard I could push (which wasnt that hard). And the lack of power ment I never worried about being a bit ham-fisted with the throttle; cold hands ment a slight lack of control as I couldnt feel what I was doing!

So, thanks my little yellow bike for delivering me and maria safley back to kingston from brighton in the pouring rain.

Oh, and thanks to Givi for making a great top-box that didnt leak at all (but I still put stuff in plastic bags!)

Ride safe everyone

Matt

I'm afraid its a short step from loving topboxes and riding in the rain to being sectioned under the mental health act. Beware.

j/k, nice that you are confident in the wet, the new tyres sound good

Z6's are superb... Much better than the standard Z4's (on Curvy's) and the Dunlop D220's on Pointies...

I put Z6's on my SV (Pointy, Silver) and they were awesome

Shame about the top-box

I don't think there's anything wrong with a bit of top box love, or even a bit of pannier affection. I used to use a set of krauser panniers and soft luggage to get me to and from home skegness to huddersfield uni when i was studying and they were so useful. Doesn't stop you having a bit of fun on the twisties provided they're not full of concrete.

Just thinking about putting a givi V46 on my SV with a backrest so my other half has somewhere a little more comfy to perch when we go out to up.
