Hey all, I have a 2001 SV650S and I would rather change the engine coolant myself than bring it to a shop. I've actually brought it there twice over the past few weeks to get that and some other work done but they keep 'forgetting'.. morons.
Anyways, i'm pretty mechanically inept. Do I need to remove the fairing in order to change the engine coolant? I've checked the service guide on this site but its for a naked sv. Any tips? |

You need access to the rad cap, top right corner of the rad as you sit on the bike.
On the pointy you can do it without removing the fairing but it's easier if you do. Ideally you want to be able to see into the top of the rad so you know when it's nearly full. I changed the coolant on my RR without taking the front cowl off but it was a right faff and I ended up with coolant all over the floor. Next time I'll be doing it properly. |
