Default My first ride on an SV

I have been for a little potter on my SV for the very first time. I have only ever ridden my Virago 535 before and everyone was telling me how different it would feel, that there would be a ferocious slow down when I throttled off and that I will have problems with bends................

Well, I have to say after only 30 miles (I know peanuts, but I didnt have much time) I am already falling in love, the throttling off of power isn't too different to the Virago, it feels as if it is stuck to the ground like glue - My new continentals I am scrubbing in - and it takes itself through the bends without effort. going fast, the back end doesn't wobble either!

How good will it be when it has been properly lowered and the suspension sorted and the forks serviced AND the restriction off?!!

When I sat on the bike I could hardly breathe I was so excited. Now I am even worse I want to go out again.

I am a VERY happy Dappy chick!

Look out for a blond with a cheesy grin at Alton next week, weather permitting!

Ah yes, the first ride on an SV, i remember mine well.

Went to local bike shop with cash in pocket and told em i want to ride 3 bikes and buy one before i leave. They were a Fazer, Hornet and the SV.

Fazer was really bad one but the Hornet was pretty good, so good in fact that when i got back the guy looke at my grin and said "OH i think we found the bike for you then?"... "Well i'd better try the SV while i'm here" says i. 5 miles away it runs out of petrol! Even tho i had to push it a fair old way to a petrol station i fell in love with it. Sadly his was a very high milage S model and i wanted an "average" milage naked.

And the day i bought that one it rained on me and my no kit wearing self all the way from Kingston to NW london but did i care? Did i hell! Even if i was soaked to my boxers and felt like i'd wee'd myself

Beacuse they lack confidence themselves and can't see anyone else having any.

My advice to anyone is ride what the hell you like, they only go as fast as you want them to and as long as you're not playing at being Mr V Rossi you'll get round the corners.

Me neither The SV650s has prooven to be a very popular track bike so I don't know why anyone would complain about handling. Anyway welcome aboard I can see how you wouldn't notice much difference from the Virago as most v-twin's go they are great on engine breaking and the SV is known as a lazy man's (or Dapper Chick's) bike

I had mine lowered after trying to ride it with just the cut away seat for about a month. I was ok on it, just a bit unsteady if I had to stop fairly quickly since I had to lean quite a lot to get a foot down.

Since having it lowered, I really feel like I am riding it and not the other way round, if ya get me

Best* £150 I spent

*apart from a nice shiny can, that is.....vrooooooooooooom!

I can only imagine he's relating it all to the harsh engine braking. Slowing down for bend / change down / back is unsettled and you run a bit wide.
