Default Airbox

Has anyone ever tried anything like this?

I've seen one on JHS Racing website? I Made it at work today, is it going to have any ill side effects?

Couldn't tell you one way or another, but I assume that if you are increasing the amount of air to the box on the correct side of the filter then you should be ok, but I would wait for somebody to come along that knows for sure or has done this already.

I also have a curvy with a different airbox, so I am not familiar with yours.

Thats what I was thinking, but didn't want to take her out for a ride without checking with someone who knows?

I've emailed JHS as well, so i'll post their reply for future reference.

In my opinion, if you haven't made a direct path for air to get to the engine without being filtered then you should be ok. The only ill-effects I can foresee would be if you negatively alter the aitflow to the filter, in which case the motor will still run, but you will notice a substantial amount of power loss, but if you say you've seen a similar thing done and somebody sells it, then you just might be doing something good, but only time and a dyno will tell for sure.

JHS have just replied! Looks good to me!

This was their reply:

"Hi, all the development was carried out on a standard machine, so yes it is fine to fit to a standard spec machine with no ill effects only power gains. We normally see around 5bhp across the range with the fitment.
jh"

Hooray!
