Cool SV650 did me proud!

Yesterday (Saturday), I went for a ride with a bunch of chaps, two of who I work with. The least powerful bike apart from myself was a 2000 fireblade. You can see my problem! The rest of the group were on nearly new if not brand new R1's, GSXR thou's, Fireblades. This combined wiht the fact that these chaps have forgotten more about riding than I know and it makes for an interesting combination. However on the bright side with a bit of spirited riding and my mate on the R1 waiting for me a bit as I didn't know where I was going I managed to keep up. I just wanted to say what a great bike my SV is proving to be, as for half the price I had just as much fun and was only going a tiny bit slower! A bit of fiddling with my suspension settings and that should close the gap even more, so I'd like to big up the sv!

It sounds like you rode to your own limits, where as some people would have pushed harder to keep up and thats when accidents happen. I was very much the same when i first got the SV, but after a while you find yourself keeping up without having to put much effort into it. Hats off to you, enjoy the ride and stay safe.

You are going to take more risks on a lesser powered bike to simply try and keep up ... this can only be a bad thing

As for the SV, yeah, it does alright for what it is and with a few mods (sort the front suspension) in the right hands must be hard to loose on anything other than long straights ...

All i'm saying is that you should always ride to your own ability, you will find with time and experiance that you'll get faster without realising it. Just because somebody has a bigger, faster bike does'nt make them a better rider. I've seen plenty of people on faster bikes than mine sprint down the straights and tip toe round the bends.
