Unhappy Upgrade Your Headlamps

Get some new bulbs?

I had a scary experience following a VFR. He went around a sharp bend, at which point i discovered the SV's headlights were rubbish and I couldnt actually see the corner he had just gone around. Shat myself.

I have just started commuting (more like nothing but filtering) on the bike again which is interesting on the way home in the dark, think I'm getting used to it now.

i think the sv pointy headlights are good, a fastbike mag i had my nose in the other day said they were VERY good, they were talking about the 1000cc sv but its the same headlight unit.

Sorry to hear that Ste

As someone else said, you not tried uprated bulbs? That's next on my list, after a smaller plate, and shorter indys

Kwak ... IMHO, the headlights on the pointy aren't that good ... but then I have nothing really (except the car) to compare it against.

I'm getting new bulbs when finances allow (after the suspension upgrade!).

Yeah will do part of the appeal apart from brighter headlights is that they draw alot less current which is a good thing for battery and alternator as my fazer like most new bikes coming out now including the sv pointy has the headlights on all the time there is no option to turn them off. Watch this space.

There was a thread a year or more ago about upgrading to xenon lights and it turned out to be expensive to get proper xenon lights and also, illegal.

See here about half way down for a full and no doubt correct explanation.

Whilst they are therefore illegal as our bikes cannot comply with the regs, I am certain that it would have to be a very, shall we say, "dedicated" officer of the highway law to either spot them or then know how to deal with them correctly.

TBH, apart from the pose value in the pub, a good set of modern, high output halogens should suffice. I have a pointy with "high output" bulbs and have never seen the need to change.
