Which is it? Sure isnt the BBC who probably just guess it - I've never known them to be right yet! Someone recommended Metcheck to me - any good?

For UK weather there can only be one:
http://www.metoffice.com/ They are world experts in forecasting, never mind just for the uk, and they supply data to many other websites. With regard to accuracy, it depends how a website presents it's data for a daily forecast. Some give an average over a 24-hour period, others give the worst case. The BBC's 24-hour forecast is pretty-good in my experience, particularly since it is broken into 3-hour blocks. |

Gotta agree about the BBC - you can go to bed with bright sunshine for tomorrow to find they have changed to p*ssing down by the morning. They are consistantly wrong. Odd thing is we here at the airport provide them with met data and trends, and they even get it wrong when you wind the animation back.

Excellent, looks like I might have good weather the next few days for my trip to Ecosse.

It's definitely not the BBC!
I actually was bored one day a couple of months back and I put an official complaint in. Apparently they source all their data from the Met Office, and cc'd the Met Office in the reply to ask them to explain further about why the data is always so far off. They didn't really explain except to say that due to variations they are only 65% correct by the fifth day (there are 5-day and 24-hour forecasts on the BBC). I was like this ![]() It must be this cos they aren't even 65% correct for the 1st day ![]() Here is the method the Met Office use to predict the weather: ![]() |

I think the 5 day BBC site is exellent and I use it all the time, accuracy is about 75% for me.
I think you'd be incredibly naive to use any day version where it says rain at 10 and sun at 12 etc. |

I don't use it for anything, it's rubbish, but I would have expected it to be more accurate predicting the weather in a few hours than in a few days. They presumably agree since they blabbered on to me about how it's only 65% accurate by the 5th day. I'm surprised you are getting that much accuracy! Out of interest what did it predict for this weekend, was it correct? Since it was the complete opposite of what they predicted for me - of course they have "updated" it so on Friday it actually said Saturday was rain. As I say, they use Gary's forecasting stone - to predict as accurately as the BBC, look outside, it's that weather for the next 5 days...
