How much work is involved in removing full exhaust

I've just bought an exhaust from a breakers minus the can so that I can chop it to fit an after market one and keep my original intact.

I have the bit of exhaust that joins onto the down pipes from each cylinder, looking at the bike getting to the front down pipe looks fairly easy but the rear one is quite buried, how much of the bike needs to be stripped down to swap the exhaust over?

BTW it a fully faired sport.

You need to remove the black side panel and the lower fairing.


Use a long allen key to reach the pipe clamp on the rear bank, loosen everything else and then its a case of gently wiggling the pipe to get it off.
You might wanna get the front header completely off first and go from there.

I don't know about the pointy, but on the curvy I had to remove the swingarm too as the exhaust routes through the swingarm and where its splits under bike would not come apart no mater what I did.

Ive done mine twice (long Story) and its not so bad on the pointy.
Loosen both headers, the mount just after the joint and the hanger mount, then wiggle and wiggle and wiggle

You don't need to take the exhaust off to put a slip on, on... Just cust the old one off a couple of inches behind the weld.

It's not difficult a 5 year old with a meccano tool set could do it.

is that who did yours?

Mine was a bit of a pain to get off, the allen bolt holding the rear manifold on the head was as still as chuff!! I had to use a specially made tool, melted the handle off an old t-bar allen key to give me a straight piece and then had to use a 1/4 drive torque wrench with a socket to get it off!!

Shouldn't be too touch with a K6 I'd have thought.
