Default False Neutrals?

Just been out for a quick blast on the new tyres this aft and on the way home, scratching some back roads, all of a sudden i lost power, tried to change down gear and couldnt get it in and found that even letting the clutch out didnt lock up. So from that I presume that the engine was still running (it hadnt cut out) but that I had found a neutral way up in the gearbox???? Is this possible? It was pretty scary as i was literally floating round the bends - thought my chain had snapped!!!

I get a falsie between fourth and fifth gear I think, sometimes

Try putting a bit of pressure on the gear lever before you disengage the clutch, it should snick into the next gear a bit more positivly

yeah, you can get false neutrals, but every time it has happened to me i just roll off the throtte, clutch in and change gear.
dosent happen very often though.
did you manage to get it back into gear in the end?

You know whats really bad? Pulling away from the lights, motogp start style to try and at least have a go at keeping up with your mate on his full power zx6r

and getting neutral instead of second gear

Hmm

Rob,

I was getting a fair few false neutrals earlier this week, which does make cornering interesting, but after adjusting my chain today it has been less of an issue. I sometimes found it was when I wasn't being positive/forceful with a change, i.e I was trying to feather the gearbox, it didn't seem to like the gentle touch, I'm back to stomping on it

And lube the gear lever pivot.

It shocked me, simply because i was hurtling before a corner after expecting engine braking, and then there was the immediate worry that the chain had gone after i opened the throttle and got only revs. Just concentrated on throwing it round the bend and then easing up with the brakes, eventually a jump on the gearbox snuck it into 3rd (i think) and I was away again.

Tim I said I wasnt in the game today - that didnt help!!!
