Is it possible to do this? from what I can tell it would just be the fairing, lights, mirrors and a few other bits? or is there more to it?

suspension adjustments and money/time.
You would have to question whether or not it was worth the time and money, would it not be better to sell up and buy an s, unless of course the bike was sentimental.

IMO, your best bet is probably to find someone with an S looking to swap for a naked (even if you end up having to pay a bit of cash in addition to your bike for the swap).

Swingarm is 10mm longer on the SV than the SVS - doesn't really matter for conversion, but its a fact!

For the k5....
Check on the front of the headstock if theres a "vertical bracket" type affair welded to it.... it should be threaded in 2 places. If there is, it holds all the "s" bits....Basically your fairing support bracket and everything is connected to it afaik. The other bits are upper fairing support brackets that bolt on the inside of your frame just at the fwd edge of the airbox iirc. It should be threaded there too. |

I'm thinking about doing the same with my 2001 Sv650- K1. Right now it's completely stock- I just bought it from one of my college's alumni for really good price since it has low mileages on it.
Can I just use any parts from 1999 to 2002 s version and converting my bike's front end with just a upper fairing, headlights, better mirror, windshield? After all I would like to have little bit more sporty look into my bike and having windshield! I'm going to have the rear fender removed as well but is there any cons to it? |
