Default fork/brake problem

I need help with this one guys-changed the fork springs a week or two ago-forks , brakes and wheel off the front end-put it all back together and almost straight away grinding coming from the front right disc when bike moves-ended up scoring the disc-stripped the brake calipers and gave them a good clean, put them back on the bike and still the same.Checked the calipers when there on the bike and the one thats scoring the disc is touching it-tried everything i can think of,pushed the spacer in as far as i could but still the calipers scoring the disc-haven't been able to use the bike because of this and its bugging me big time-i had an off a while ago and landed on the right hand side but the forks don't look to have suffered and damage.i've had the wheel and both calipers off since then and had no trouble when i've put them back on-bike passed its mot after the off so would i be rightin thinking the wheel alightment was ok then?-really need help on this one please.

Only thing that springs to my mind is that the caliper isnt sitting straight when you put it back on? How deep is the scoring?

Its deep enough to see very minute shards of he disc thathave been scored-when you push the bike forward the holes in the disc catch the caliper?.

Good morning all.
Make sure that the spacer that the wheel spindle passes through in the lower right hand fork leg moves freely. They tend to stick, & when driving the spindle out they can move slightly to the right. When torquing up the wheel they can stick, so your forks get pulled together at the bottom, this would cause the right hand caliper to touch the disc.
Get the beggar out, give it a good clean & grease, & all should be well.
Also make sure that the speedo drive housing is located correctly on the left hand side I.E. With the stopper on it behind the lug on the fork leg.

Cheers.

Alternatively you could have a slightly bent fork legs due to your off.
To check this you'll need to remove the forks, grip the lower in a vice, (lots of padding) then rotate the upper & see if there's any oscillation at the tip. If there is any you have a problem.
Mark the top nuts with good old Tipp-ex in line with the split in the top yoke, & rotate the forks until neither caliper is touching then tighten all nuts & bolts. Give the bike a SLOW test ride to make sure it rides ok.
A bike can ride ok with a slight bend in the forks provided that the forks are not disturbed. If they are replaced in a different position the bike will feel as if it's trying to pull to left & right simultaneously, which is in fact what they're trying to do.
If this is your problem you'll have to try to find a position for the forks where the Calipers don't touch anything & the bike rides ok, you can only do this by making small turns of the forks, checking the calipers & test riding after each adjustment.

Obviously riding with bent forks is NOT an ideal situation. So if you do have bent forks it really would be better to replace the legs or have them straightened.
Modern fork tubes bend easily compared to older bikes, due to the wall thickness of the Stanchions having been reduced, so as to have the ridgidity of a larger diameter tube without the excess weight.

Cheers.

Good afternoon.
Glad to be of assistance, for replacement tubes try All Bike Engineering on; 020 8858 9052. Their Stanchions are hard chromed as standard, although they're a little more difficult to fit, as one has to cut open the old leg to remove the shuttle valve assembly, for it to go into the new leg.

Cheers.
