Here's someting I just spotted in yesterdays Daily Express which has well cheesed me off!!!!!
A teenage moped rider clocked up a record number of speeding tickets by being caught 36 times in two months. He was even captured making offensive gestures to one camera as he zoomed past. The 17 year old was filmed haring down four roads roads with fixed cameras. In just one day, he was caught eight times riding at speeds of up to 16mph above the the limit. He was pictured from as early as 10:30am and up until 10pm at night, speeding around the roads in a circuit often on his own. Police arrested him after the film was passed to them by the camera partnership. The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons 'claimed' that his 50cc moped could not go faster than 30mph and that his speedometer had been broken in an accident. At Fareham youth court, he admitted36 counts of speeding and "one" count of driving without due care and attention. He was banned from the road for one year, fined £250 and told to pay £140 costs. The Magistrate told him "there was total disregard for any of the laws and you have shown absolutley no responsibility in the way you rode". But magistrates decided it was not in the public intrest for him to be named. They added that they believed the punishment would be sufficient to stop him from offending again. A sergeant from the Safety Camera Partnership said it was the most speeding tickets that he had seen handed out to one person. He added "The moped he was riding would have been restricted to 30mph but it had obviously been altered due to the speeds achieved,- The Partnership commits time and energy to identifying 'bikers' riding in this manner so as to keep the roads safer for all of us" . Why wasn't this scrote, given back his licence with 216 points on it. Why wasn't he fined £2160 in speeding fines. Why wasn't he charged with 36 accounts of undue care and attention. Why wasn't he charged with having no insurance due to riding a moped which had clearly been tampered with. Why wasn't he charged for riding an un-roadworthy vehicle due to an aledged broken speedometer. Sure he's lost his licence for a year and his insurance will rocket, but hey, next time he probably wont even bother getting insured let alone apply for another licence. I think it's about time something was done about these 3 year CBT certificates, a 2-3hr CBT and your free on the roads for three years while the rest of us go through the stress of DAS or actually aiming to get and applying for our full licences etc. And when their 3yr CBT expires they go out out do another couple of hours to get another certificate. i'm sorry but it f*c*s me off!!!! I bet the little s**t is having the time of his life bragging to his mates. Todays justice system is clearly taking the p**s!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

This is one of many examples every day of people who get away with outrageous behaviour, receiving disproportionally low levels of punishment.
The Police arrest them... the courts slap their wrists! British justice is indeed a farce ![]() |

Thats a pathetic punishment. Ban him for 5 years and fine him for every ticket. Or even lock him up for 6 months. No wonder people act like that when the justice system is so weak.

There'd be no point adding the points to his liecence as indeed, its very unlikely he'd go thru all the bother of getting it only for him to instantly be a 'totter'. at least this way he might stay in the system (tho my bet is he wont). CBT's last 2 years btw |

When I was learning, before 33bhp restriction and stuff, I think the CBT was for two years and if you hadn't got your full license within the time period you weren't allowed to ride for a year, before redoing your CBT. Has this changed?

You're right about the two year cbt Ralph but I think you can just go and sit another cbt right after it runs out, you don't have to wait a year.

What a tit, but hardly a speeding lunatic.
I bet everyone here has drifted over the limit a few times, just not been so f###ing daft as to get caught 26 times. Chris
