Default A go on an R1 - Should I?

A colleague has just offered me the keys to his R1 for a lunghtime spin, I have only been driving my SV for just under a year and am worried that I might not have the skills.

On the other hand I really want to see what it is like.......

What to do?

As long as you have insurance then yes try it out. But be prepared for a shock and that when you get back on your SV it will feel as slow as a slow thing thats very slow.

As long as you have some self restraint and dont get on it and the first thing you do is give it a big handfull of throttle you'll be fine.

You'll find it'll be amazingly responsive in the lower gears and you wont be ready for it so just take it steady.

Yeah I checked my insurance and I'm covered, I was actually kind of hoping they might say no. Then the decision would've been made for me.

It's an old W (I think) Reg one.

I'm also worried that it will push me back into wanting a GSXR again..........

I'd say go for it! I've ridden a friends and they're great bikes. Quite impossible not to speed though.

Just dont crash/drop it!

Heros buy these for first bikes so I'm sure you will be fine.

Even if you dont feel confident enough to give it some beans around some twisty, find a nice straight.
