Hi Y'all,
Im new to the forum and just installed a K&N air filter (i know most of you are laughing right now). Im sure you all know whats next: I have a severe lag at 6000 to 7000 RPM with the filter installed. The only other mod on this bike is an ART exhaust, no carb jets or anything. The K&N has a nice sound but the lag makes me feel like the bike's about to stall. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? I was thinking rejet or take the K&N and play soccer with it and reinstall the old filter..... |

I'd suggest getting the jetting sorted as this will be the route of the problem. Also make sure you didn't dislodge the airbox from the inlets to the carbs as a bad seal here might also cause bogging at certain revs.

I'd guess you're running lean, it needs a jet kit on it or better still taking to a dyno place where they know what they're doing.

I'd put the stock filter back in... You'll spend a fair amount of time or money fixing this for a minicule gain. But if you do want to stick with it, fire in jets one or two sizes bigger than what you have and take it frm there, or, pay £100-£200 to have it done by pros.

If you do it yourself, prepare to get really good at taking the sv seat, tank and carbs off.
Reckon it will take you 3 attempts before you get it near, a few mroe before its spot on. Use of a colourtune is OK, but under load it will be behaving differently anyway, so not a massive amount of help. As for miniscule gain, not a lot in power but induction roar is coool ![]()

thanks for the speedy replies everyone. Ive decided to make a kick ass bird house out of the K&N and just slap on a garret turbo on the old sv. Avtually, i think im just going to go with the stock filter and save myself a case of blown up groin..
