Default Seamstress required

Need the help of a seamstress in the North East who can stitch a new lining into my leather bottoms. The original has all but come away from the inside and need an oversized lining so that it stretches with the leather rather than tearing. Anyone know of one willing to do bike leathers?

If you can't wait that long there's two or three places on the hill in Newcastle that'll do it, Proto leathers for one.

Rather than oversize the lining (which could then 'bunch up' and be a tad uncomfortable in places) I'd suggest getting it made from 'Cotton Jersey' - it's a relatively stretchy soft fabric that is nice n warm, but also breathable.

Either that or a nice lurid gold spandex or lycra blend!

K, with cotton Jersey would they not be a bit warm in summer and also tend to soak up sweat also? With the nylon this tends not to happen.

Possibly - I was guessing these may be more for winter use rather than all year round.

In which case, have some velcro put on the inside of the leather's waistband, and have lining made that is detachable - all the easier to chuck in the washing machine every now and then.

Then you could have a choice of a slightly warmer winter lining, and see if you can get hold of some of that fast-wicking fabric that sports tops/EDZ suits etc are made out of for a summer lining. That stuff is stretchy too.

Hey thats a good idea, something ill have to pitch to them, however as its sewn in at the moment, im not sure whether a lining which is only connected by the waistband might actually move inside of them.

Will give it a think. Just gotta find that repairer first.

The lining for my leathers velcroes in at the bottom of the legs, and zips in just below the waist, seems to work pretty well.
