Default 6 Points Rule

Is this just a backdoor way to reduce traffic congestion,or a genuine way to make our roads safer. I can see an awful lot of licenses going for a Burton

it will surelly rule me out soon! Speeding = 6 points = way too expesive insurance on my bike = me exploring advantages of push bikes. To be honest with the price of petrol going sky high I may have to do so anyway!

From what I understood of the proposal/law is anyone breaking the limit by 24mph or more will get 6 points. Getting caught at 95 means that you were probaly doing an indicated 100 anyway which is about the point when i would expect the police to get p*ssed anyway.

Have I understood this wrong.

Think it was 45 in a 30, and 94 in a 70.I'll support the 45 in a 30, but they ought to keep the ratio the same, so 105 in a 70!

T'is really an excuse for a higher fine to go with it.

I don't think any of us have problems with inappropriate speed as in 30/40 limits. However I have a problem with NSL roads. There is no need for 70 on motorways, the real speed on most motorways is generally about 90 without problem. Problems occur with poor driving and the authorities would probably save lives by concentrating on this.

It will probably be policed with more cameras. Better they get rid of the plastic cop and put real ones back, At least they can then clamp down on the idiots on Britain's roads that a camera does not bother. IE, drunk, no licence/insurance, using phones, etc.

All for the clamping down of excessiveness in built up areas/round schools/parks etc etc. Getting all dewy eyed over speeds on NSL roads though is abit much..

Buy a busa, put a fake plate on it, don't bother with insurance. Don't stop if pulled.

It's probably only an ASBO for that

Get used to it and learn to live with it.
The safety fascists and scameraships are very much in charge at the moment and I dont see anything changing. We are moving towards a total surveillance road system where compliance will be absolute just as soon as the technology can deliver, and that will be very much sooner than most of us like to think.
Think about the culture change that has happened here. That word "compliance"is used everywhere now both in the work and social environment.Twenty years ago that would have been deemed sinister, but now we just accept it.Compliance indeed.

TBH it's not actually in the governments interest to get lots of people banned: a lot of people on losing their licence would also lose their job, meaning unemployment would go up and all the things that entails. I'm not saying that if you habitually drive 30mph over the limit and when caught you blow a raspberry in the Officers face and show him your privates he'll let you get away with it, but for the majority of speeding offences they should be more lenient!
