Arty / Designy bits for a web site - Help

I am creating a web site for a new venture

Its an idea i have had for a while but redundency has meant that rather than wait until Iam ready I need to do it now.

The challange is to come up with an image that I can use in the page header and elsewhere on the pages to give sort of common theme throughout the site.

I have no experiance of creating web sites or manipulating images, but i know what I want.

The venture is to organise and run bike tours, initially in the UK

The type of image Iam looking for is below, the example comes from microsoft

Anyone got a clue how to do something like it with bike related images?

it hard to see that image as it doesnt get any bigger when you click it BUT it looks like something that can be knocked up in Photshop with ease.... if you know how to use Photoshop.
I watched a freind do something similar for his businees letterheads and it was all about "layers" IIRC
So ita a load of images all layered on top of one anothert with transparent backgrounds if i got what he was saying.

Samnooshka is our resident Photoshop expert at the moment tho so she may pop in and be more helpful than my "i think you press this button" reply has been, lol
