GPS question.

Now I've neversee much point to these as generally I know where I'm going and if needed I can print out the last bit of a route from Map point.

My question, I've seen some of these units have petrol stations marked, I can see that being useful, get a bit low, have a quick look at the GPS for the nearest, that kind of thing, so which would be best? comes with them already installed ? or would you need to program them in like a way point or something ?

probably not something I'll do, but you never know if there is a decent one out there with a fairly good data base already then I just might.

so come on all you GPS junkies, who's got the best data base for petrol stations ?

most gps's such as tom tom have pre installed poi and has such things as pertol stations, allready in their database...
i'm thinking of geting tom tom v2 from helfords..
look at u tube for "tom tom rider" it shows all the features........

Oh I won't need the bike one, as I won't ever use in whilst riding, so anormal one would be fine, perhaps in a pocket or tank bag and only look at it if I'm in an area I don't know where the local petrol station is, from what you say if they all have it then I'd guess one of the cheap ?100-?150 ones would do then ?

"tom tom xl one" with min of england and ireland...
would sute you ..... it does every thing fine, i'm sure there more cheaper on the market, but that the one i've got and never had any problems........
except on the last ride out it didnt know which way i was faceing....
i think i am being biased..
i'm sure others will say which one they use.

Just had a look on Ebay and they are within the ?100-150 bracket so fits the bill, what sort of battery life do you get?

quite a smart little unit though

mine on a full charge only lasts @5 hours...
i spose its really built to be pluged in to the cigrette lighter socket in the car,
hence shuch a short battery life.
dont know/never bothered in finding out about spare batteries.

actually got a petrol button on it to find the closes petrol station to you

what is the bluetooth thing for then and is it worth getting it as in this (extract from add)
