I noticed today while slowing for a gatso that I was merrily travelling along at 0mph and 0 rpm..
I still have dipped and main beam, but with ignition on, no other electrics- No indicators, side, tail or brake lights, speedo, rev counter, idiot lights or trip meters. I turned the key to parking lights and they both came on, so to hazard a guess I'd say its not the fuse box. Over the phone to my dad he said it'd need to be 2 blown fuses to cause that, which is unlikely. Obviously I can't ride it home from faringdon to cambridge, so my uncles picking me up and taking me to his just near swindon, with the bike on a trailer. If we can't get it sorted tonight we'll have to try and get it into a bike shop tomorrow. Can anyone suggest anything? Or lend a hand round swindon way? Cheers. |

Howdy Boy,
Sounds like the problem I had on the way over to Skips run from Red Lodge last time. In my case it was the brake light causing the 10amp fuse to trip. I disconnected the brake switch leads from the front and rear and replaced the fuse. Did the rideout without brakelights. It transpired I'd caught the loom under the rear seat unit and had a chafed wire. I slid some slit hose pipe over the loom in that area and it's been fine since. Touch wood. |

Well, we fixed it for about 2 minutes. It was the signals fuse, replaced it and tried to put a surge through it (revved it with indicators and brake light on etc) and all seemed fine, then I trundled up the half a mile or so to my uncles house following him, didn't give it any beans, and its gone again
![]() Now I either have to get it recovered home tomorrow and then get the garage to sort it during the service, or try the local bike garage and see if they can find the problem quickly and easily. Could it be corrosion in the connector blocks causing something to go bang? I couldn't see any bare wires touching the frame around the headstock, or anything under the seat, but I haven't looked under the tank. My suzuki toolkit didn't have any allen keys in, so I couldn't do much sat at Izi's ![]() |

I have had this sort of thing 3 times with the Zed and its been wires shorting on the frame everytime - thanks Kawasaki
![]() I would definitely check and double check everything - a pain I know - some of mine were a right biatch to find!! Good luck!

It is almost definitely a short. Because more than one circuit is being effected, I would start with the connector blocks. Then check the loom around the normal hot spots, where the wiring goes through to the rear of the bike under the front seat being the prime one.

Rather than spend money down there I used my free recovery to get it back to cambridge to the garage its booked into for its major service which is due on thursday. Then had to walk a few miles home cos I had no other way
![]() Must pick up a load of spare fuses, and stick a the right allen keys into the tool kit.. |

If I were you I would be spending Saturday searching long and hard for a short - I just taped up everywhere that looked even a little suspect! When my indicators stopped working it took me ages to find the short - tucked right up the instrument cluster!
