Default Armstrong Pads

Fitted some Armstrong GG pads today

Anyone else use/d them?? ...

I haven't actually used them in the front yet (fitted them and then put the bike away ), but fitted the rear Armstrongs about 2 months ago and they seem fine

Used to have them on the work bike as well. Lots of heavy braking, discs are fine, no extra wear.

I used the HH ones on the SV... With the old GSXR front I think. They lasted about 6000 miles, and that included a thousand miles of motorway But they were nice to use and didn't seem to wear the discs at all.

Ok, some feedback about the pads as I have had them in for ~1 month now.

I used them on a .org day trip to France, so motorway and scratching on hot French roads. I have also used them for going around town and some back road 'scratching' (in the UK). A brief spell when I got caught out in a shower too, so a variety of usage/conditions.

My sumation:-

They do work, but I think they feel a bit 'wooden' ... they are absolutely fine for 'normal' braking, but if you want that bit 'more' from them, you tug on the leaver hard and they really don't offer much, initial bite is fine, but if you want a fair bit from them, they go wooden. If you want to slow from fast, there is no fade, but if you need to make an emergency manoeuvre or trying to have a bit of fun being the last of the late late brakers, they are lacking! If you can progressively pull on the lever harder and harder they do slow you, but if you just want hard BITE quickly, they don't seem to provide.

Would I buy another set or recommend others buy them?

If they were on a tight budget, yes, they do the trick - extremely cheap and therefore great VFM!! With the caveat of the above.

Will I be buying another set?

No!

I am even thinking of taking them out to be honest as I don't like the seeming lack of HARD grab. I preferred the organic EBCs I had in there before ...
