Default Ouch...I hate get offs.

First get off on a street bike since the early 80's. ...
Yesterday...while on the way home from a 3 day ride through the Smoky Mountains.

Been through heavy rain several times over the weekend but yesterday, just as I ran into some heavy torrential downpours, the bike started missing... like when water gets in the front plug....

Deep in the forest, descending a mountain on a steep curvy road with no place to stop when it started to pour down... I continued on hoping to find a place to pull over and put on the waterproofs (I was already starting to get really wet at this point)....but I didn't make it that far.
Descending through a steep curve with the bike leaned over...water flowing across the road...the front cylinder kicks in....
The back tyre begins spinning wildly and in an instant both tyres come up off the road and slams both me and the bikeon the pavement... landing on my head and right shoulder.
No signal on the cell phone and no one around for miles I had little choice but to try and ride the bike home...another 76 miles.
I mananged to get both myself and the bike back uprighted and the bike started but had to cut it back off and wait till the pain subsided a bit before I could ride away.
Called the wife when I got about 15 miles from home and told her to be ready to take me to the Hospital.
In pain but made it home with the bike.

Damages:

Me:
Shattered right collarbone and 2 broken ribs and some kind of aneurysm thay said souldn't be anything to worry about???
Seeing a bone specialist in the morning.

Gear to be replaced:
Helmet , pants, jacket scuffed but seems OK (probably needs closer examination), panniers

Bike:
Unknown...couldn't be too bad it made it home!
Quick look ...needs:
Right upper fairing, exhaust can, RF indicator, bar end brake lever....
ssems to be just cosmetic damage but will have to check when I am able.

Hats off to my new HJC AC-12!
Took most of the impact .... CT scan says my heads OK.
Only pain is in my shoulder.

Looks like it may be a few month's before I can ride again.

Ouch! Riding back home with a broken collar bone & two ribs =

Know the feeling of the "1 cylinder, occasionally 2 at just the wrong moment" riding, revving the b0llocks off the thing through town to keep it from stalling, only for it to "catch" and fire both just as you're exiting a roundabout

Well, 'nuff respect for getting home, and whilst you probably don't feel particularly lucky right now, living to tell the tale is always better than the alternative

Dang, that doesn't sound pleasant in the least. Glad to hear you're in fair shape. That collarbone will be a bummer for a while though.

Oh no..............really sorry to hear about this. Hope you recover soon, and keep us up-dated on both you and the bike!

The running on one thing is a b*st*rd. Ours got so wet at the weekend it was playing up, even with the fender extenda

So you rode over 60 miles with a mashed collarbone and two broken ribs? How did you pick up the bike?

Heal up quick, BM

Ouch. Unlucky mate.

You'll heal quick enough & the bike sounds like it's pretty easy to repair so far.

I now know 2 .Orger's who have ridden long distance with a broken collar bone. You guys need another CAT scan I reckon!

So sorry to read this, my admiration to you for riding with injuries like that... you must have been in agony! Glad there`s not too much damage to your bike and hope you have a speedy recovery. Take it easy x
