Unhappy My 1 mile bike ride

Me and drew were going to go on a ride tonight, got the bikes out rode to fill them up (half a mile away) and i rode mine staight home....... something didn't feel right......

I seem to find that once i get going i'm fine love the bike and everything about it...... however once i come to junctions i kind of freeze and painic.... i don't know why?

Can anybody offer any advice to help me with this problem?

Just lack of practice....pick quiet roads til you get more used to the bike & chill....

Also check tyre pressure if it's been stood a while....

There you go.... useless at advise me

Hi Lily,

There's always going to be times when things dont feel quite right, no matter how long youve been riding. Everyone has off days.

As for the junctions, the more you do it, the easier it will get. Just take your time & dont let anyone rush you. As said above, find some quiet roads/junctions to practice on. You'll be amazed how much easier it will get in a short amount of time with a little bit of practice

What about advanced riding lessons? That could get your confidence up a step.

Also maybe you were just a little under the weather and are being a little harsh on yourself. Give it a try another day when the sun is shining and you feel good.

Is it anything to do with riding with someone else?

I find it's a totally different experience riding alone or with others.

It sounds like you just need to build your confidence and the best way is on your own, I think. You've shown you are able to ride safely and competently.

Pick a nice day (no weather worries), plan a nice route (no surprise roads), and just take your time. If it goes well, turn round and do it again. No rush, no pressure, just you and the bike out on the road.

The best thing is that you feel able to express your feelings on here, and we all understand. Just don't feel pressured, relax, enjoy.

You done anything with the standard seat? I found that when I got the seat reduced, not only was I able to touch the floor flat footed both sides (which adds HUGELY to confidence when you are stopping and pulling out of junctions) I could feel what the bike was doing better too. Also don't forget that you can have both feet down if you want, you have passed your test and can have those 'bad habits' if it makes you feel better!

Thanks Guys for your advice...... got lots of things to try.

Ace-T- I did have a lowered seat but changed it for a normal one as the bike is lowered via the dog bones anyway..... might put the lowered one back on to see if that makes any difference!?

Lily,

As already mentioned just take yor time, the more you ride the more competent you will become.

Perhaps some time out on your own will help?

Just relax go with it & you will be fine......
