I trimmed mine with a stanley knife and then used a file to smooth the edges. Worked a treat and only took about 10 minutes........ No need to remove it either just be careful not to cut yourself!!!

Yes, I trimmed mine using a stanley too - it's easier if the plastic is cold, but wear safety glasses!

On my K3 that bit of the throttle tube was made of solid hard black plastic! It took some removing! And then my grip was still too long so i had to cut the end off it anyway.

But these weren't oxfords.

Yep, I trimmed mine with a stanley knife and then filed it down too. The bits of plastic fly everywhere when you cut it. I didn't have to trim the hotgrip at all though.

I didn't on mine because I didn't read the instructions properly on the main page of this site whoops.
Mine are currently sitting on the throttle tube exactly how yours are. I just trimmed the other end of the grip
It works put it aint pretty. When I get hold of another grip I shall be grinding that bit down also but it works for now.

P.S why does your headlight switch have a warning triangle instead of a headlight and sidelight picture?

Just to add, may I suggest, get hold of an R6 throttle tube from your local yam dealer (cost me £7), then also do the R6 throttle mod at the same time (please no replies regarding does it / doesn't work etc)......these don't have silly trimable bits and are much easier to fit grips to. Plus keeps your standards clean and tidy in case you ever want to swap back or remove the heated grips prior to a sale.
