My parents are off to nothing more than a Haven Holiday site in Devon on Friday with my little lad. Nothing special just a week away for my dear old dad to have a rest by the sea.
He also celebrates his 60th birthday while they are away too. ![]() So, between me and my mum we organised for me to appear on Sunday, bearing the other surprise that we had in for him too. A nice thing to do being all of 289 miles on my tod! Then it occured to me, what if they don't like bikes on site. So I got my mum to ring them. They don't!!! So I called to enquire as to why. The lady said she wasn't sure, so she'd put me on hold and find out. She came back to me with the excuse that they have a 10mph speed limit, and if I wanted to come on site I'd have to push the damn thing to wherever my parents were on site ![]() I said to her, I'm 5ft 8 and weigh 10 stone do you think i can really push a 650 bike half a mile round the site, full of luggage? Well those are the rules. Its not as if I'm bringing the Hells Angels to descend on you, my vehicle does do 10mph, and will likely to do less damage at 10mph to a small child than a car( more to me in fact). Well it is a family site she said. I just told her, thanks to the rules of the site, she just spoiled what was a family event, and saved me a 289 mile trip only to be turned away. I think this is such a discrimination, its actually rediculous, I knew that some places did this, but never come across it on the whole, never mind just for one sole rider ![]()

I'd just go anyway. What are they going to do? Its easy to tell someone no down the phone in person however I reckon they would have used discretion.

Ignore the rule and go anyway. I doubt that they'll have gatsos to check that you really are doing 10mph.

Anyways - just turn up and park outside the park, surely being there is more important than not. And if when you do turn up there are no "no bikes" signs, well it wasnt you that phoned and you were not to know. ![]() ![]()

They said I'd have to leave it at the entrance to the site. Which could be a million miles from where my parents are based.
I really don't fancy taking that risk. I'd be pacing the floor and walking miles to check up on it.....after all its a family site. Kiddies like touching shiny things...wouldn't want it falling on them!

Devon cliffs. They're going because we used to go there loads when we were all kids.

AND, I think you actually need to be registered to gain access to the site by pass as well to use facilities. But I may be wrong
