Default Bike parking in London

Hello London people, I may be working in London tomorrow and staying in a hotel in vicroria.

What's the deal with parking bikes in central London? Are there still free bike places?

Does anyone know of any places in or around Victoria.

Really don't fancy the train esp as the weather is supposed to be nice.

Our nice friends at Westminster council want you to pay £1.50 to park anywhere in the Borough of Westminster which i believe covers the Victoria area too.
And you gotta pay by phone and card only just to make it more annoying.

Fizzy Fish works over that way so hopefully she'll see this an be able to advise you a bit better.

Use this to find where the parking bays are, there's a map key which tells you if it's chargeable, etc

So how much would it cost to leave a bike in one of those bays overnight then?

Parking is usually free after 6 or 6:30 so no worries there. If I were you I'd look for an NCP underground car park instead of leaving it on the street all night, especially since it's not a residential area around there and your bike will stick out like a sore thumb if there aren't many other bikes in a bay. If you do leave it out on the street then a chain is a must IMO

Cheers,

Paul

Does the hotel not have any secure storage? Worth asking them.

+1

I used to leave my bike in the NCP car park when I worked near there. IIRC it cost a few quid but was only occasional and worth it for the peace of mind
