Im putting a Gen 2 motor in my gen1 bike this weekend since I Dropped a valve and roasted my old motor.
My question is Since i dont have an oil cooler for this engine, can I just plug the oil line ports by the filter or do I have to do anything else? dont want to starve my motor of oil and I have a track day on thursday so dont have much time to get an oil cooler before then. thanks! |

Why not fit the oil cooler?!? (or are there rules in the formula for this?)

I plan on fitting one but I don't have one to use right now and I don't think ill have time to find one in time so I just want to bypass it temporarily until I get the cooler. Thanks for the reply.

I'm fairly sure you can just block the ports but not 100%. Perhaps a direct loop of hose would be prudent but like I say, I'm not 100%.

I agree with YC.
Just incase the oil flow through the cooler is meant to get to something after it's gone through the cooler....not worth the risk of blowing a motor up. |

Yes I agree, But I wont have an oil cooler before the track day. This all happend unexpectedly as usual. but I plan on purchasing a cooler asap
I think I have it sorted. I had to pull the oil plug behind the oil filter to open that oil passage up and plug off the oil line ports. thanks for all your help guys! NOW! I have another issue! I cannot get the alternator rotor off the crankshaft! Is there anyway to keep the the gen 2 rotor in the 2006 gen 2 engine? and make it work in my gen1 sv650? ![]() |
