Default forks feel stiff after oil change.

Well changed the fork oil on the s4 and it feels as though the forks are a lot stiffer to compress. Not sure what could have caused it although the old oil was pretty amazing when it came out ( yc at least twice as bad as the sv ). Any thoughts ? It's fuchs 10w oil btw.

Didn't brim them did you?
How stiff are we talking? Could it just be the difference between shot oil and new oil?

Although obviously new oil will have a greater viscosity than the old this shouldn't prevent the full travel of the suspension, if you can't gain that much travel then I'd suggest you re-check the air gap as this make up the bit of spring, if you've over filled them you'll suffer what's termed hydrolic lock.

Cheers Mark.

Forks fully travel. Air gap ok and equal.( within.1mm of spec ) just seems like I've got everything wound up tight, comp / preload when I haven't . Guess its just the new oil then.
I was worried that because I didnt take the adjusted off the top of the fork leg ( as stated in the fork disassembly instructions) and must removed the top cap I may have adjusted something or other by accident.

Which Fuchs 10w oil exactly?

Is it on here (Silkolene oils are made by Fuchs)?

Is the oil level intended to be set with the frok and damper fully compressed?
If yes, then as the adjuster/fork cap wasn't removed from the damper, the damper couldn't have been compressed when the level was set, this means the oil level is over by a portion of the vol,ume of the damper.

If I'm reading what you say about not removing the fork cap correctly that is.

So instead of taking rebound adjuster needle out of rod you just span cap off the preload adjuster/rebound adjuster carrier bit?

No that's fine.

You took spring and everything out of fork when measuring oil? Leg fully compressed when measuring?

If you're dead certain all the above is ok then double check all your clicker settings. What oil did you use?
