Default Trusted Tyre fitters and MOT stations?

As you may be aware I'm going to be having some new tyres fitted. The only place I have asked so far is "North Eastern Tyre and Autocare" but they charge £50 + VAT per hour which is ALOT.

What are your most trusted Tyre fitters that in around Newcastle?

Also what are you most trusted MOT stations? Ones that wont try and take every penny for "faults".

As you know I only moved up here last year and this is the first time I'm needing to use garages. So I want to make sure I use the best ones.

My MOT runs out end of May so please reply ASAP. Thanks.

50 p/h for tyres sound like a "bend over mate"

most place that do ride in and out charge £22-26 per tyre.
I use M&S for ride in's as I have used them for both bikes. If you can get them there as loose wheels Hunters Motorcycles are very good

Test stations I use Armstrongs Engineering 0191 261 4579
WSB (Westgate Superbikes) also are good with MOT's

Thanks. I will take a ride down to Armstrongs and have a look. "M&S"? If they do charge about £25 per tyre fitted to bike then I may aswell use them.

EDIT: Ok. Just looked on their website. Thanks for the info.

EDIT 2: What was that minor gripe? I wont be getting tyres fitted tomorrow. Still haven't ordered them. Will check them out tomorrow though, if weathers good, so that I know my way their next time.

its these http://www.mandsmotorcycles.co.uk/

I've only had one gripe with them and its a minor minor one. Word of warning the fast fit is the dealers on the left at the bottom (riding up Westgate Road) and the access is just before the shop, also there will be a long wait for tyres on a Saturday

I just recieved my E-mail inquiry of rfitting my new tyres at NETE. They quoted me £215 on loose wheels and £245 on the bike. They also inflate the tyres with Nitrogen. Is this a standard practice?

I wont be going with them as I can get it done cheaper elsewhere.

the Nitrogen thing is a load of ********.
Most places use 'air' which is 78% nitrogen.

What rubber is that for btw?

Im thinking of buying some Avon Storm 2 Ultras. Found a pair on eBay for £185 (inc postage) for 120/70 - 160/60. Busters is only £10 cheaper but only does the 120/60 front. Im not an aggresive rider and have found my current Road Attacks have started to square off at the rear so the dual compound Storms should be a nice upgrade for the same price as the Road attacks.

I don't have a front paddock stand or a torque wrench, otherwise I would take the wheels off myself. See I dont have a job at the moment so I'm just going with the cheapest option available at the moment, except for the tyres.

Once ive got a job lined up I will invest in a front stand and torque wrench.
