As you may i know i broke down earlier in the week and i was gettin a constant 11.98v from the R/R, i fitted new Regulator/Rectifier yesterday and i am now getting the following readings, please let me know ASAP if they are OK as i need the bike for work tomorrow:
All off: 12.7v (however this rose to 13.4v after the bike was run and shut down after 5 mins or so) Lights OFF Idle: 14.0v 5000rpm: 13.9v Light ON (This is the one which concerns me) Idle: 13.9v 5000rpm: 13.3v <---below the 13.5-15.5v mentioned in the manual. Also when i was checking all the connections etc I found this plug with nothing attached to it: Attachment 9888 Any ideas what it is, i have looked at the wiring diagram but I am not the best at reading them but i can't see it. You can prob see from the pic but it has an orange wire and a black/white wire going to it. Thanks guys Last edited by daveyrach; 23-02-12 at 10:15 AM. |

Readings don't look bad. Is the battery fully charged? If it is, then keep an eye on it - your reg/rec problems might have affected the battery.
Where abouts on the bike is that connector? I'm thinking rear brake switch. Maybe fan or thermostat? Last edited by TamSV; 02-10-11 at 12:34 PM. |

If you go back from the first block of yellow wires from reg/rec to the second block of yellow wires there should be a group of connectors in that area if my thinking is correct you should find the other end in there. Im not to good at explaining things sorry. rear brake i think

Yeah the battery completely died so it may have, it is fully charged now took a good couple of hours yesterday.
Connector is just above the rear brake pedal however the brake light works when the pedal is pressed so cnt be brake switch, funny you should mention the fan i have never heard it come on even over the summer. |

No, its never been connected ever since I had the bike, keep forgetting to ask what it is, the only connectors I actually undone was the R/R ones.

Strange. I just had a look at the wiring diagram and it's the right colours for the rear brake switch. Maybe the previous owner had a problem and bypassed that wiring?
