Default Road legal - lights / exhaust - how do I know?

Not long back from having a look at a bike at a dealers,
it has an aftermarket can (which they have the baffle for)
an aftermarket seat cowl with led brake lights.
aftermarket indicators.

the salesman there said the previous owner should have been bringing the originals in.

Just had an answer phone message from another salesman who quite abruptly said that the bike came in as it is, and will be sold as it is!

Whilst there I pointed out that it would not pass an mot possibly due to the exhaust and also the lights not being 'e' marked, was I right?
Is there a way of knowing if the exhaust/lights are legal?
It is not due an mot til next year so that would only be a problem then, but are they also road legal?
Thanks

Personally wouldn't worry about it too much. Most MOT places wont go over it with a regulation book. My bike went though with no baffle in the exhaust and with non e'marked integrated brake/indicator lights.

the one (cocky) salesman said he could get an mot on it now no questions!
Its a 2010 plate so not due until next year though.

Left it with them to get the parts off the previous owner or take the cost off the bike of me replacing them to get it through an mot.

Left it with them to mull over.

Technically the bike they sell you should be road legal in all respects, so it's up to them to sort those issues out. If they are being awkward walk away - I wouldn't buy a bike from a dealer who was unwilling to help sell his stock because he'd be equally as unwilling to help out if the bike develops a fault just after sale.

i would only buy the bike if the price is good, as buying second hand original parts will not cost much to buy and fit. I wouldn't buy a bike from a rude salesman in principle. Dont rush into buying the bike there are loads of good sv650s for sale.

with regards to MOT and exhaust. exhaust must be E-marked 'stamped'. aftermarket indicators are fine as long as they blink at the correct speed and are clear at which way you are turning. It is good general practice to have standard parts for your SV650s (mudguard, chain guard, exhaust, indicator, lights, etc).

Is it??? I assume you mean in the shed/garage/under the bed?
I never did have the standard exhaust for my second SV, and I chucked the one I took off my first, along with the standard indicators. Oh and I couldn't sell the standard exhaust from the RSV for love nor money, so took it down the tip.

So I take it the parts fitted are not road legal?

If not can they legally sell this bike?
