Default Second time in as many months - petrol prepay demand.

It might be me ...
I might look somewhat suspect ...
But today's the second time I've been asked for payment for my petrol BEFORE I fill up! Announcement over the Tannoy system ... Oh the shame!

I didn't prepay. Turned right round, went to another station, got my petrol, then went back to the first to show them the receipt (and share my views on this new stance of theirs)

... petty, but made me feel better

The first was BP in Peckham - tried telling me it was because they needed to ensure I was there right age (patently not a requirement for cars, then) and today's was at Jet on Croydon Road, Anerley.

I refuse to pay in advance at night when I'm driving a car (a challenging look sort of saying "I'm old enough to be your mother" is usually enough); I'm really not about to start pre-paying in broad daylight just because I ride a bike. Does this not constitute discrimination?

I've never understood how you're supposed to know, in advanced, the exact amount you're going to put in the tank.

Just fill up more and then ride off?

You've got a receipt.

One BP garage insisted we swipe our payment card first before filling up our van, but that's nearly £100 worth, but the annoying thing was that they didn't switch the pump on until I went in to ask them to switch the pump on, when I was asked to swipe our payment card ' Gotta pay first, otherwise no fuel' I was told. So how the feck was I supposed to know, when there was no sign to say this.

It was on the truck pump, so I can understand the need too, when its a lot of money being pumped into the tank.

But for a bike, that's ludicrous!
