Default Polishing up those old headlights - link to guide

My girlfreinds car headlights were yellowing/clouding up slightly so i thought id have a look and see what i could do. A mate showed me this guide which was quite useful.

I didnt quite follow everything the same, i used:

1200 wet n dry, then 2000 wet n dry, then 2500 wet n dry

Then i used a DA polisher with a sponge pad and some fine cutting compound, then after i used the DA again with some ultra shiny polish. After all that i finished it with wax on top. Her lights took me approx 1 hour each side, and the result was well worth it. Heres a pic with the left hand side done and the right not yet touched.

The end result was that the lights looked 90% brand new. If you inspect them, theres still some light scratching but this could have been fixed if i wanted to spend ages on each one. As it is, they look brand new from about 2 feet away so it was a good enough result for me.

Thought it was worth a mention for those with bike or car lights needing a refresh..

I've got a 3M Headlight Restoration Kit sitting here that I will be using on my car headlights. The results make the lights look brand new. I'll probably wait and do it after winter now though

Doesnt look a bad kit if you dont have any of the bits, but i had it all already other than £8 of sandpaper.

I remember reading somewhere that toothpaste does a pretty good job?

I had read the same before but apparently not compared to sandpaper, unsurprisingly
