SV "rebooted" on me? - SV650.org

I had just started the bike up after filling it up with petrol, shifted to first to move off and the bike cuts out, stupid me left the side stand down. So I flicked the side stand up and grabbed the clutch to start the bike up and then I hit the starter button, at which point nothing happened for a second and then suddenly all the lights went out and the bike seemed to "reboot" itself. Second time round it started up fine, but felt a bit wierd for a mile or so, that could be me just paranoid though.

Anyone else had this happen to them? Any ideas what could cause this?

I don't think I've seen this happen to me.
I did have the weird thing where it cut out at a junction then wouldn't start for a few seconds, though.

A number of bikes with FI have a "get you home" mode, which comes into play when the ECM thinks something is wrong.

Not sure if the pointy shape SV's have it but I know the Classic shape don't.

On the T5 triumphs you have to go though 12 start cycles to re-set to normal, and on buells you need to do 30 miles and a certain rev limit.

the idea is to get you back home or to a dealer and prevent engine damage, normally the revs are limited and the fuel air mixture is richened up to stop the motor running so hot (so you can't thrash it).

Thanks Rictus. The bike did feel different to start with but that was only for a few miles, so could just be my paranoia. This was after I filled up though, so it was switched off for at least 5 minutes, also it fired up fine the first time but then switched off when I changed to first with the side stand down and it then rebooted after I tried to switch it on again with the side stand flicked up.

Now this may seem even stranger but it seems to have added 100 miles on the clock, it was at 450 miles when I filled up and after doing 70 miles, still haven't filled up and I only get about 80 miles out of a tank, it now shows 620 miles on the clock.

It's going in for a service tomorrow so I'll see what they say, probably that I'm paranoid and imagining things though.
