Default Infinety,.. excellent service.

News just in...excellent customer service still exists.
on my way to work this morning and my waterproof gloves became, un-waterproof. they're only 4 months old so i thought i'd take them back as i was passing Hanger lane infinety branch.

anyway, fully expecting an argument over the definition of waterproof.. etc, but no. the guy puts his hand in my glove. " do you want a new pair or a credit note" straight away, no arguments.

so 5 mins later i'm on my way with a new pair of gloves.

i know where i'll be buying my new helmet from.

ive had a mixed experience with Infinity (farnborough branch). The sales team were ok and got me an excellent deal on insurance on the CB but the '31 point' pre-release check was awful: rust on the chain and the oil filler cap fell off (!) after three days riding. They then totally screwed up getting a replacement cap.

For that reason i doubt ill take the bike to them for servicing.

I agree, had some great service from Infinity in Holborn. Took my 3 month old Frank Thomas waterproof gloves back 2 weeks ago as they started to fall apart (seams bursting).

No problems, guy suggested some Alpinestars as a replacement for the same price - much better so far. Been very good for advice so far also.

Best bargain was when went into Guildford branch for some earplugs - only had a card on me to pay (£2) so the bloke said don't bother and gave them to me for free.

Great lot.

I never fancied Infinity after bad experiences with Carnell / Riossi / Dixons

I get on pretty well with the guys in the Soton branch and go in there every other time I pass.
I like rummaging in the bargain gloves bin, usually some nice kit from last year ends up in there for pretty good prices.
They also have a reasonably good helmet stock, so you can try everything on before buying it online.
Oh, and they are happy to give discounts to people they recognise or if you're buying quite a bit at the time.

Infinity Farnborough - Sales guys tried the hard sell when i expressed an interest in a 748R - "we can do it for £6.2 - but only if you'll do a deal tonight" (at 5.30pm...) Funnily enough they were only interested because I was driving a mates Range Rover at the time and they spotted it. When I tried to buy my first bike and walked up there in civvies (i lived down the road) - they couldn't be arsed to move an SV 2 feet for me to look at.

Service dept is very very helpful though and even stamped up my replacement service books even though the servicing had been carried out by Motorcycle City 4 years previously!

Also Guildford is staffed by a couple of meat heads who again aren't interested unless you're already in the biking fraternity.

I wandered in one lunchtime after passing my test - i was on the phone to my girlfriend - not giving it the big one - just chatting and at the same time looking round the shop - i picked up a Roof lid and heard one of them mumble "Yeah - it's a f*cking Green Helmet- nob".

At which point i hung up the phone and asked him face to face to repeat what he'd said "i i i just said it's a green helmet" to which i relied "you're a **** and i won't be buying anything from this shop."

I turned up a week later wearing new leathers and the same Roof lid that i'd purchased elsewhere - and told him that.

Avoid!

It really is down to staff. I've only ever been into Purley. I bought my pre-loved SV there in 2003. After the experience I swore I wouldn't buy another bike from them again - too damned pushy and almost deceitful. However, my experience in the clothing department at xmas 2004 was excellent. I spent an hour in there trying on pair after pair of leather trousers. Got excellent help and advice and the bloke was very, very patient.
