As per ive possibly changed my mind again about what bike i wanna get.
so what of the daytona? i can only afford a 600 version though, rather than the 650. i know they are a bit slower than the other 600's but i hear they r more road based. am i right? seen any for good prices? |

They've excellent mid-range. So in a way they are somewhere between a dedicated supersports 600 and a V-twin.
In recent years Triumph have made a vast improvement in technology and reliability that shows in their newer bikes. The Daytona 600 is one of my favourite looking bikes in red. |

I nearly bought a 600 Daytona in 2003.They are a "road sensible" riding position compared to the Jap 600s but are slightly down on power. The road tests said they handled better on real roads too.I ended up buying a new zx9r because at the time it was cheaper! You might find there are not many available, and are they still pricey?

To be honest I was a bit let down with the 650- the gearbox wasn't great and while it was far easier to turn the road handling was frankly inferior to my SV (though to be fair, that's no regular SV). I was expecting to be knocked out, and I did enjoy it, but it wasn't inspirational.
Love the cheeky Pokemon looks though.

Daytona 600 has rave reviews for handling, braking comfort and looks (although I don't like the back end myself..).
The only place where it "lacks" is the power, which just doesn't match the Japanese bikes (who have beeing doing SS600's for years). Nice bike, take one for a test. You'll have a job to find a better gearboox than on a Suzuki. My SV and GSXR boxes were fantastic, I'd go so far to say that my Gixxer box felt better than the one on my 'Blade, and that's said to be a good unit.... . |

Hmm, seemed to me that there's two sides to its handling- it turns in brilliantly, very light and handy, but it wasn't so happy with bumpy straight lining or with dodgy surfaces mid corner. Though obviously the bike wasn't set up for me. Also very, very divey on the brakes- though again, could have just needed more comp damping.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say the chassis and geomoetry are great but the suspension components are merely good. Front end's definatley inferior to the Gixxer 750s IMO.
