Default Lean angle anyone?

Found this on another site and thought it was most impressive if a little painful.

Yes I've seen that before but somehow doubted it was actually true, as that lean angle seems virtually impossible and to defy the laws of physics. Anyone?

You're correct, it's been doctored, the shadow is wrong for a start and not present anywhere else in the picture, but more than that their's no tyre deflection, given the speed you'd need to maintain that type of cornering (and it can be done), and the change in direction the tyres side wall would be significantly deformed mid corner, only straightening on throttle roll on from the apex. also the front suspension isn't that compressed which means the bike is either in a very wide bend (beyond the scope of the picture) or about to run out of track and crash

Cheers Mark

It does look legit to me, but it might be a split second before he finishes the low side and spins off into oblivion.

Yep, seems that way to me too. Look at where he's looking as well.. at the ground just before he hits it

I seem to remember reading somewhere that that's exactly what happens, anyway.

I sometimes have dreams, a bit like those flying dreams, but these are riding dreams where I can lean the bike so far that the bar ends are almost touching down. The reality is rather different.
