Default British Justice is a joke

A 15 year old boy has been found guilty of manslaughter.

After watching videos of 'happy slapping' he picked a victim at random then goaded and punched him. The victim then fell hitting his head and later died in hospital.

What did this little s*it get 3 years so out in 18 months

Id say thats fair enough really.

Its good to see him actually get a sentance, normally kids get away with it scott free.

End of the day, i dont know the full circumstances so i cant give a full opinion as im bound to be missing something vital - but based on the information you give, id say it was fair. I dont know about the kid, any other offences, what hes like, his school attendance etc. If hes a little ****, then yeah, he deserves more - but if hes just a normal 15yo kid who made a bad error of judgement - why screw the kids life up permenantly for it. We all **** up at times.

3 years for beating someone to death. Not defending himself in a fight, just thought that it'd be fun to go and punch someone.

Sorry missed a bit out. 'Afterwards bragged to his friends that Mr Topp had been asking for it'

What Mr Topp had done, was sit waiting for a train with his fiancee

I'm with you. Sometimes there has to be an element of "pour encourager les autres" to stop copy-catting.

BTW.....I note the inspiration from "watching videos of happy slapping". I've been well flamed both here and elsewhere for complaining bitterly about people who make 'em and put them out over the internet....and the people who draw attention to them by posting links. Chop off the source of titillation (ie these stupid video websites) and we'll go some way to stopping the problem IMHO.

Kids do stupid things. The sentence is appropriate in this case i reckon. A tragic accident caused by a misguided teen.

Its not that far removed from other stupid acts. Riding like an idiot and possibly endangering others?

If you we dont know any more than what we've read, we cant judge. He's got a 18 months to think about what he's done. We've all seen far worse miscarriages of justice.

Too right.

The kid may not have intended to kill the guy, but he certainly intended to hurt or humiliate him and deserves far more than 3 years for that.

I bet if the kid was kicked in good when he gets out, the person who does the kicking will get a similar if not worse sentence than 3 years - f*cking joke.

It is cases like this that *encourage" others to do the same - we need some serious punishment seen to be done to put a stop to these idiots.

Riding like an idiot and hurting someone (which is quite unlikely) has no INTENT of harm.

Slapping someone round the face most definately has INTENT of harm.

Hang the f*ckers.......

How many times do you see that on a Saturday night?

My local area has just turned down another nightclub as 80% of the disorder offences occur between 8pm and 5am at the weekend. Drunken disorder and deaths caused are far more prolific. My other half can vouch for how many cases of INTENT to harm she sees every weekend yet most of these cases are overlooked or acted upon as they are seen as part of going out for a drink.

This trend for "happy slapping" causes no where near the amount of problems. Yet gets more attention when things go terribly wrong.

Whoa there tiger! And you couldnt have accidentally killed him? It could have killed me on a bad day or anyone with numerous medical conditions.

That sort of thing activity amongst teenagers is not by any means new. Teenagers do stupid things.

I do not condone their actions. I hate the current attitude of the youth of today and would quite gladly give them a good kicking in many cases. I'm just saying the sentence is probably appropriate.
