Default Ripping music off a CD

Can someone please tell me how to rip music off my CDs to play on my computer, if it's not too naughty. Thanks

Put in cd drive. Open in wondows media player. Click on the 'rip' tab, slecet the songs you want and click 'rip'.

If you want them to be playable in anything other than wmp, that's more of a hassle. I cba with it myself so i may or may not use a program called greencable.

If you only have windows media player and want them as mp3s:

The v [access application menus tooltip] button next to the minimise/maximise/ close buttons gives you a menu. Tools menu, then Options, Rip Music tab.

On this tab you can change the directory it copies the music to and also the format so if you want mp3, choose it from the format drop down.

Personally I use Nero7, but it's been so long I honestly can't remember. I think it's Nero Burning Rom > Recorder > Save Tracks.

Exports to MP3 without any of the media rights crud that Media Player seems to be fond of.

Downside is that Nero7 costs, unless you're not going shopping that is...

iTunes will do it easily. If you want MP3 rather than AAC audio you'll have to select this in preferences. iTunes is probably the best software for organising your mustic too (someone is bound to argue with that). It's certainly vastly better than Windows Media Player.

Just started using iTunes recently and I agree with Mr Wyrdness, it's a great program. One thing i did find though was not to let iTunes organise your music collection by itself, i'll decide how I want my hard disk organised TYVM...

Just wanted to say thank you for all your help, and to reassure you, it's worth your while.

Further to my earlier question I choose a Sony Ericsson k750i and thanks Davido & Lyn, I figured out how to get most of U2 best of 1980-1990 B sides downloaded on to it which helped pass the time on the train from Rabat to Marakech.

Thanks all!

Just to let you know its not illegal to rip music off your own cds and into MP3's for your own use, just when you start sharing them it gets illegal
