I bought my first ever bike about 2 months ago, and after a month passed my test on it. The bike is a naked sv650, and having done over 1,000 motorway miles on it in the month since passing my test I'm pretty sure I've bought the wrong bike.
![]() ![]() Can anyone offer any advice on what i should change it for. I'm not really sure as my SV is the only bike I've ever ridden. I though about a sv650s, but they look like somebody stole half the faring, and the forward riding position doesn't look like it would be comfy for 2 hrs in the saddle. I really like the look at the Triumph Sprint ST - but they are 8 grand ![]() I also quite like the Kwak ER6-f - not the minging naked one - but the one with the nice big fairng - i love the black with burgundy shock and forks etc. It is also the only fully faired bike fared seen with proper handle bars so i can sit up in a nice comfy position. I also mentioned to my mates that a Deauville would be quite practical, but they promised never to talk to me again if i got one of those. Any comments on any of the above bikes, or suggestions for any other would be really appreciated. I need a bike that is comfy for 2 hours on the motorway and can carry my suit and laptop bag for work, and store my helmet and jacket etc when i get there. Thanks very much.......... |

Have you got a windscreen over the light to deflect the windblast? That could be a cheap fix to your problem.
I have the S model which is good for motorways, you are protected by the fairing and any wind that gets through supports you slightly and keeps weight off the wrists. You could always put lowers on it if you feel like the bikes looks wrong without them. Can't help with the other bikes I'm afraid. |

i have got a screen - but its just a little one that attaches to the headlight bracket - and it seems to direct all the wind into a strong jet right at my chin and neck. Maybe I'm too tall to be a biker??

Tis a shame about not feeling suited to the bike. I had a 650s the same as Hovis and found the riding position tough on my wrists and back. I would suggest an aftermarket screen especially through the winter time but as a naked rider now I only have windblast problems above legal speeds. I dont do that many motorway miles though so more power to you.
Alternative respectable bike - maybe a Fazer?? |

I remember a member had this screen on his naked in his pics, was quite big. should deflect windblast well.

i found my wrists hurt for the 1st week only......now my knee hurts, but i can live with it
new leaf, try a bigger screen? it would be best to try out a few differant bikes but.....they may seem ok for the 1st hour.then the aches may start? some bike shops will give u a bike 4 a few hours? |
