I'm going to have to replace my sidestand switch but I'm worried because the cable leading down to the switch runs behind a casing and is stiff to pull through. I can't see any way of pulling the connector through. Can I take this case off, or am I missing something?

According to Haynes, the connector is under the tank. To find it you'll need to trace the wires back from the switch. The reason why it's reluctant to pull through is because it is held in place along the frame with ties and clips.

I've found the connector just worried how I'm going to get the old one out and new in through a tight space - will have a look for cable ties in better light at the weekend.

I seem to remember that it passes under the front sprocket cover, if I remember right then it's a simple matter of 3x8mm bolts to remove it, and yes it will be clipped in place so it's most unlikely that it will just pull through.
