Hi all, Just joined today. Don't have an SV yet, but hope to soon. I know this is a UK group and I live in the US, but want to be in touch with as many people as possible to get a good cross reference of experience.
Anyway, I have a complete VFR750 single sided swing arm and wheel and I saw a photo or makeup of an SV650 with this setup and really liked how it looked, I am a big fan of bikes with SSSA's. I would like to build a super cool and hot performing SV using this swing arm. Wanted to know if anyone on this list has any do's and don't about it? Brian |

Me, I know nothing... But it ain't easy, it needs to be cut down... Best looking on SVRider as I know a few of the yanks have done it. Though the best looking one I've seen was using a MV single sider.

Haven't a clue myself, every one I've seen needed tons of structural welding... PM Tygaboy on SVrider though, he did a lovely job on his. I don't like the look much myself, and it's an awful lot of work for a mod that doesn't help performance (and actually adds weight) but it's as bling as it gets

Yep, thats what I saw to... far to much work from what I can see. Plus I wasn't sure about adding extra weight.

IIRC, an NC30 arm is the one that fits along with a ducatti wheel. But an awful lot of work as northwind says

Do any of the snazzy new style sportsbike swing arms fit easily? (I'm guessing no). Not that I'd bother myself.

There's a GSXR750 one, Y-K3 I think, which is disappointingly close but still miles off... The length, chain track, width at the axle end etc are all dead close, but the SV's offset shock mucks it all up. Vtwins tend to put the rear downpipe through the swingarm, IL4s don't have to, so the dimensions are different. Shame, that.

What about the swingarm out of a Bros, or Hawk for our American cousins.
Designed to take 650 power and V twin power plant. Just a thought. |
